Grand FinalWINNERS 2016
Brimbank City Council is pleased to announce the re-launch of the hugely successful In2Sport Brimbank program.
Funding will open from 1 February with a 2 week priority application period for applicants that have never registered for In2Sport before.
From 15 February applications are open for everyone eligible, including new and previous applicants, for the ‘Year Round’ and ‘winter’ application period.
In2Sport Brimbank provides a fantastic opportunity for children living in Brimbank to actively participate in community sport and recreation, regardless of their financial circumstances.
Eligible participants living in Brimbank and aged between 6-18 years whose family hold a health care/pension card can apply for financial assistance to contribute to club membership fees.
As an affiliated In2Sport club you will find great opportunities to increase memberships at your sporting club, whilst supporting local children to participate in sport who previously may not have had the opportunity to be involved.
Applicants can receive up to 75% of membership costs, with a maximum of $200 per child per year. These fees will be passed on directly to In2Sport Brimbank registered sports clubs through Brimbank City Council.
To formally apply, the ‘Sports Club Registration Form’ needs to be completed by your club and send to Leisure Services, PO Box 70, Sunshine VIC 3020 or [email protected]
Please note the updated Terms & Conditions and that Council may advertise your club’s junior membership fees on its website and other In2Sport Brimbank publication forms to enable the applicants to make an informed decision about which club to join.
Council looks forward to working with you over the coming year to provide physical activity opportunities to all children in Brimbank regardless of their financial situation.
If you would like further information, please visit the In2sport webpage on www.brimbank.vic.gov.au or contact Tom van de Ven on 9249 4526.
Assistant Coach of Western Bulldogs AFLW team
Congratulations and good luck to our senior coach Marc Bullen who has been appointed as Assistant Coach of Western Bulldogs AFLW team.
‘Bully’ will take charge of the Dogs backline and assist senior coach Paul Groves and will play a key role in the development of Western Bulldogs’ talent in the first season of the AFL women’s league.
He is certainly looking forward to the challenge of coaching the team he supports. ‘‘There was a good opportunity to grow my coaching over the course of the next five years and to get myself involved in the AFL and the team I support was great.’’
‘‘My dad was a passionate supporter and flowing through to the time I was at Essendon I jumped ship then, but myself and my kids still follow the dogs.’’
The beginning of the eight week women’s season in February is optimal timing for Bullen, who is planning on leading our mighty club to a fifth straight premiership.
But Bully will no longer be running on to the field as playing coach. ‘‘I pulled up stumps after this year’s premiership because I want to concentrate on coaching and develop that,’’ he said.
‘‘I’ll have a bit more of a reduced role during the (Deer Park) pre-season when I’m with the Bulldogs and let my assistants take control. I’ll head down to training every now and then to make sure they’re still training strongly and keeping up standards,’’ he said.
‘‘It’s great being able to coach and play with these sort of guys and to keep improving each year. I’m certainly looking forward to improving my coaching and transferring the skills from the Dogs to Deer Park.’’
Thrilled with the Western Bulldogs premiership in the AFL, Bullen says hopefully the women’s team can replicate the same success.
‘‘The Doggies won the AFL this year so hopefully we’ll do the same with the women’s next year,’’ he said.
‘‘I’ve got three young daughters so as well as coaching them as they grow, hopefully as they get to the ages of playing they’ll see they have a pathway as well.
‘‘The exhibition game (between the Western Bulldogs and Melbourne) was great, the game will grow and grow.’’
